
For nearly 20 years, Georgina Avilez has worked in top consumer communications with extensive experience in Hispanic and General market brands. Her areas of specialty are community relations, program management, events coordination and media engagement. Georgina understands her personal and professional life to be intimately intertwined: utilizing her own story and experiences to help others discover a renewed self-love. Accordingly, her work and personal history center on community wellness.
As the Sr. Program Manager of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for the Southern California Region, Georgina Avilez manages staff on a daily basis to conceptualize and implement community based projects with her team. Accordingly, she has implemented a series of successful programs, including Power of Community / Power of Parents / Power of Youth. Georgina also manages community engagement and fundraising events, such as the Walk Like MADD 5K, Teen Youth Summit, Law Enforcement Recognition Awards and Candlelight Vigils. Her aptitude in public relations and event coordination have secured her consecutive promotions at MADD, culminating in the management of the MADD game day initiatives and awareness programs for the Los Angeles Rams.
Prior to MADD, Avilez held executive roles with RL Public Relations and Vesper PR where she executed corporate communications and marketing initiatives for clients including Sears and Sears Concert Series, Nike, Johnnie Walker, Hennessy, Resurrection Blvd., Miller (MGD) “Solo Con Invitacion,” MGD Tools for Success, Nescafé Frothé, Marlboro Team Penske, Got Milk?, Ozomatli, Slim Fast, and Ritmo Latin Music Awards.
In her earlier years, Avilez received her first start in the entertainment industry with Latin Style Magazine overseeing star-studded content and graphic layouts during the “Latin Explosion.” She later joined Trevino Enterprises as a publicist working with top Latin music artists: Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony to name a few. Additionally, Avilez was a weekly blogger with DallasVida.com reporting entertainment content including celebrity news, movie premiers, movie reviews, book reviews, etc.
Avilez was also the showroom manager for an exclusive high-end accessory designer. This brand line included distinctive diamond jewelry, leather handbags, watches and clothing that could be found on network television shows, red carpet events and TV shopping globally. A testament to Avilez’ relentless work ethic, compassion and commitment to the community, she volunteers her time to other non-profits: Chips for Kids, Autism Speaks, Suicide Prevention, Victims of Crime, Susan G. Komen, Relay for Life, Alzheimer's Association, Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs and Street Racing Kills.
After receiving praise for her personal essay that details her experience with tragedy and the journey to discovering self-love, Avilez is working on her first novel, A Letter to Mr. Wonderful and a children’s book, Smiling for Santa.
